When the 2016 CMA Awards nominees were revealed in late August, both fans and artists were pleasantly surprised to find Maren Morris' name in several categories. The newcomer is the most-nominated artist at the upcoming awards show with a total of seven nods.

As the newest artist on the awards roster, Morris' breakout year brings to mind Chris Stapleton's success of 2015. She is nominated twice for Album of the Year for her major label debut Hero as artist and producer, once for Female Vocalist of the Year, once for Song of the Year as a writer of "My Church," once for New Artist of the Year and twice for Single of the Year as the artist and producer of "My Church."

And she's in good company. Stapleton is right behind her with six 2016 CMA Awards nominations, including the coveted Entertainer of the Year award, as well as Male Vocalist of the Year, Single of the Year as both artist and producer, Musical Event of the Year for "You Are My Sunshine" with his wife Morgane and Music Video of the Year.

Keith Urban is up for Entertainer of the Year for the first time since winning in 2005, which he calls "extraordinary." He has five nods at the 2016 CMA Awards nominations for Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year for Ripcord as both a producer and artist, Male Vocalist of the Year and Musical Event of the Year for "The Fighter" featuring Carrie Underwood.

Eric Church also has earned five CMA Awards nods in 2016, including Album of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year as a writer of "Record Year," Single of the Year and Music Video of the Year.

Tune in to see who pockets the most wins when the 2016 CMA Awards air on Nov. 2 on ABC.
