Altercation Leads to Two People Being Hurt and One Arrested in Texarkana

Texarkana, Texas Police say an altercation between two men escalated into violence.Police say they were called yesterday afternoon to the 1100 block of West Street in Texarkana, Texas in connection with a shooting. Officers found two people lying on the ground.

Investigators quickly determined that a 60 year old Hershel Towery of Nash, Texas allegedly approached a 44 year old Texas side man and shot him at least two times. The victim in this case then allegedly struck the other man with an ax handle.

Police say the two men know each other. No word on what exactly sparked the confrontation. Towery was released from the hospital and arrested for aggravated assualt and booked into the Bi-State Justice Center Jail. Bond has not been set.

No word on the condition of the man shot. The investigation into this situation is ongoing.
