A&M-Texarkana Sees 15 Percent Increase in Freshman Enrollment

texas_A&M_logoTexas A&M University-Texarkana officials have announced a 15 percent increase in freshman enrollment from last year and a total of 2,066 students registered in undergraduate and graduate courses for the fall 2017 semester.
According to a press release, Total undergraduate enrollment for fall 2017 is 1,647. Eighty percent of the undergraduate student body is from Texas; 15 percent is from Arkansas. Approximately one-third of the new freshman class is comprised of students from the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
The university also experienced a 6 percent increase in undergraduate credit hours and a 4 percent increase overall in student semester credit hours – from 21,022 in fall 2016 to 21,904 this year. A credit hour is the unit by which A&M-Texarkana measures its course work.
For the first time since it opened in 2011, Bringle Lake Village residence hall is full with a waiting list.
A&M-Texarkana’s largest feeder high school is Texas High School with 29 students. Its largest feeder community college is Texarkana College with 120 students.
In addition to the undergraduate enrollment increase, graduate enrollment remained steady, with a total of 419 students registered in fall 2017.

Enrollment information is calculated on census day, the 12th day of classes for the semester.
Registration for the second eight-week session of the fall 2017 semester is still open through October 22.
