Surely nobody will offended by that mascot name!! CNN has a story this morning about Corner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah where they've dropped their Cougar mascot because it was offensive. Humm. There's a school in Utah most are familiar with.. oh yeah, the BYU Cougars. Well, apparently in Draper there aren't many BYU fans. Maybe the town is full of Ute's fans. Who knows.

The school asked the students what mascot they would prefer and Cougars was selected with 23% of the vote. Parents, however, didn't like the choice saying it was offensive to older women. The term "Cougar" has come to reference a older woman who likes to date younger men in today's society and therefore it's now a derogatory word.. (Another example of street slang becoming main stream.) So, the school bowed to pressure and changed their mascot to "Chargers".

So, add "Cougar" to the list of forbidden mascot names in our politically correct society. Wonder how long it's going to be before the Alabama Crimson Tide come under attack? I'm just sayin'.....
