The Arkansas High School Band received recognition, two AHS double bassists made the All-State Orchestra, plus EAST Night Out and more!

The AHS band was recently recognized as the Arkansas 5A Honor Band. The band was featured at the Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association Music Conference held at the Hot Springs Convention Center. Pictured: AHS Band performing at the ASBOA Music Concert, directed by Gary Meggs.

Two AHS double bassists auditioned and made the Arkansas All-State Orchestra. Nicholas Smart and Patrick McKerlie (above) attended the Arkansas All-State Music Conference February 13-16 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Patrick also made the Chamber Orchestra and the Wind Symphony. Both are sophomores at Arkansas High School.

Also in the Press Release, Texarkana Arkansas School District - EAST Night Out – On February 26, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the AHS Red Wall, EAST students from College Hill
Elementary, North Heights Junior High, and Arkansas High School will share their
innovative campus and community-based projects with event attendees. This event
provides students an opportunity to share with the community the power of studentdriven, service-based, technology-infused education. EAST students seek to solve problems they identify in their school and/or community and create innovative
projects to address the need.

Student Focused Study Tours Showcase Two TASD Campuses - The Arkansas
Department of Education (ADE), in collaboration with the Office of Innovation for
Education (OIE), is shining a spotlight on highly effective programs and innovative
schools within the state by hosting regional Student-Focused Study Tours.

Beginning at 8:00 a.m. on March 6, tour participants will visit College Hill Elementary
and Trice Elementary. The tour participants will have an opportunity to observe best
practices and effective teaching and learning that prepares students for academic and
