The Arkansas High Razorbacks are looking to make some noise in baseball this spring.

Razorback Head Baseball Coach Layne Berry begins his fourth year at AHS, and ninth overall. His 2017 team boasts 7 returners from last year. This includes 3 Seniors, 6 Juniors, and 4 Sophomores.

Coach Berry expects 6 players to carry the load of pitching duties this year, including Senior Jake Johnson, Juniors -- Dylan Adcock, Gage Gore, Matthews Mobley, Austin Nix, and Sophomore Drake Browning.

The Razorbacks hope to get some good leadership from position players, Senior 2nd baseman Triston Koller, and Junior catcher Wren Williams.

The Razorbacks will be playing in a mixed district this year with both 5a and 6a schools in the conference. Coach Berry hopes this will help them gain a good seed heading into the Conference Tournament later this Spring.

Berry says the Razorbacks need to put up more offense to be successful this year.

"The past couple of years we have struggled. Hopefully from our experience last year we will put up some more runs."

The Razorbacks have a good mix of experienced players this year with 7 returning from the 2016 team. Hopefully that experience will translate into a really good season and a deep run in the playoffs.
