A robust crowd of hog fans filled the Elk's Lodge in Texarkana, Ark. to capacity at the annual Razorback meeting on Wednesday (4/17) to get a glimpse of what to expect from the Arkansas Razorbacks this fall. The man of the hour was of course new head football coach Bret Bielema and athletic director Jeff Long.Coach B delighted the fans when he jumped up and grabbed the microphone to help with the auction items. He was actually a pretty good auctioneer! Those early days of being a hog farmer certainly paid off. He had high praise for the Texarkana area for having produced such great athletes who have contributed to the Arkansas program over the years. He said the Texarkana area (SW Arkansas) and Texas will continue to be fertile ground in which to recruit future Razorback players from.

After sharing some funny stories he touched on why he decided to come to Arkansas, talked about his top notch coaching staff and how the players have been performing and responding to a new coaching staff and system during Spring practices. The Red-White Spring game is scheduled for this Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark. at 2 p.m. Last year they had 45,000 people in attendance and this year he would like to break 50,000. Admission is FREE with plenty of activities at the stadium all day leading up to game time.

This was athletic director Jeff Long's first visit to Texarkana who seemed equally impressed by the talent pool in this area. Long shared his story on hiring Coach Bielema and talked about all the improvements going on at the University. The two-hour-long meeting ended with the infamous hog call and food was provided by Big Jake's BBQ.

Here are a few photos from the event.
