The city of Paragould, Arkansas (population: 25,000) has seen a recent rise in crime and authorities there are determined to take back their streets. Their solution? Police in SWAT gear patrolling the streets with AR-15's around their necks. Papers please!

Beginning in 2013, the armed officers will begin foot patrols in high crime areas of the town. Anyone they encounter walking the streets will be asked for ID and to explain what they are doing out on the streets. According to Police Chief Todd Stovall, anyone who refuses to show identification could be charged with obstructing a governmental operation.

According to city-data.com, Paragould is one of the most crime ridden cities in America with a property crime index rating that's twice the national average.
