Actress Ashley Judd could be looking toward politics for her next job. The younger sister to Wynonna Judd and daughter to Naomi Judd is said to be considering a run for U.S. Senate in 2014, but in a statement, she would only go as far as indicating that it's possible -- but too early -- to discuss the potential campaign.

The Louisville, Ky. Courier-Journal reports that Judd is the Democratic hopeful to run against Republican Mitch McConnell. “I cherish Kentucky, heart and soul, and while I’m very honored by the consideration, we have just finished an election, so let’s focus on coming together to keep moving America’s families, and especially our kids, forward,” Judd said in a statement.

An early indication that Judd is taking the idea of a career in politics seriously would be if she moved to Kentucky. She would have to establish residence in the state, as she now lives in Tennessee. The star of 'Double Jeopardy' is a famously loyal University of Kentucky Wildcat fan, often appearing in court-side seats for the men's basketball games.

The Courier-Journal points out that one hurdle to her successful campaign would be her views on mountaintop removal coal mining, as coal is an integral part of the Kentucky economy. The actress called it "the rape of Appalachia." McConnell seems to be looking forward to facing off against Judd.

"Senator McConnell and his wife are big fans of Ashley Judd's movies and appreciate her energy, particularly when it comes to getting young people engaged in the political process," his spokesman told USA Today.

Judd does not have previous political experience other than being a delegate for Tennessee at the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
