Mario Garcia
Mario is a radio veteran with 30+ years under his belt, working at many stations throughout his long career.
Born and raised in Texarkana, he often performed his own radio shows he taped on a recorder for his friends. Then in 1978, while attending Arkansas High School, he was offered a part time on-air position at KOSY 790. Mario went on to pursue his love for radio, and, after taking some broadcasting classes at TCC, he was eventually hired full time at the station. The rest, as they say, is history. He credits the late Larry Kent for inspiring him to live out his dream of being a broadcast professional. He also had many stints with Y-102 which, ironically, is now Kicker 102.5.
Mario did mornings on KTFS for years, later moving to KMLA to do mornings with Fabiene Thrash. When the station went off the air, Mario set his sights on Hot Springs, where he was voted "The Best Personality on the Air" by fans of the local newspaper several times.
In 2000, he felt home calling him, and says, "I've never looked back, there is always something special about coming home. I'm thankful for all the great memories, friends and country stars I've met along the way." ... adding, "It's ironic to be back at the same station where it all started long ago."
You can see Mario regularly at various station and charity events each month. A self-proclaimed Karaoke junkie, you may hear him singing songs from his favorite artist, Elvis. Friends now call him "Marvis" the King of Radio! And Marvis says, "It's great to be home!"
Mario is married and has three daughters, two sons, and a beautiful granddaughter!!!
