Blake Shelton is back in the spotlight — both on The Voice and at a major block party on Music Row recently — and according to the star, things are starting to look up following a rough summer.

“I’m in a good place,” he remarks on CMT Hot 20 Countdown. “I wasn’t, but I am now. It’s amazing how quickly life can turn around for you. I’ve had some pretty cool things in recent times that’ve happened."

Shelton's Pickin’ on the Patio show on Nashville’s famed Music Row is one of them. The hour-long free concert shut down two blocks of the iconic neighborhood, home to many record labels and recording studios in town. He was also recently named a headliner for Country Jam in Colorado next summer.

Despite the emotional rollercoaster he's been on since splitting from Miranda Lambert in July, Shelton looks great, which he attributes to an intense training regimen called “mowing the lawn."

“I would like to sit here and tell you I’ve been exercising, but I haven’t,” he explains. “I push-mow my lawn because I’m so stupid ... I’ve made enough money at this point I could have a riding lawn mower or even better pay someone to come do it."

But it was the personal turmoil that led to his push-mower exercise routine.

“In the middle of crisis, chaos going on in my life I walk out [into my yard] and I’m like, ‘what is going on in my life, I mean it’s just so cra—what the hell is going on with my yard? Are you kidding me? It’s like three feet tall!’” Shelton says with a smile. “Why do I even have a push-mower? What am I doing?"

Well, if Shelton's female fans have anything to say about it, he won’t be getting a ride-on mower anytime soon. It’s clearly working for him.

The artist has been busy filming episodes of The Voice in his ninth season as a celebrity coach. He’s nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year at the upcoming CMA Music Awards in November.
