Bowie County Road to be Widened
The Texas Department of Transportation is planning to widen a Bowie County roadway this Summer.
A section of Farm-to-Market Road 3287 will be widened near Liberty-Eylau this year according to plans approved in May by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
“We will be widening a 1.3-mile section of the highway from FM 989 to the end of state maintenance,” said Kenny Icenhower, area engineer for TxDOT in Texarkana. “The current highway is 20 feet wide and we will be widening it to 26 feet.”
H.V. Caver of Atlanta, TX was awarded the contract for the projects with a low bid of $366,434.
Work on the project should begin in July and be completed by the end of the year, Icenhower said.
