If you can then you’re probably about as old as me.

A guy I have known since my early days of DJ’ing, before my radio career started (we’re talking a club gig in Houston back in the mid-80’s called “Fools Gold”), posted this video on his Facebook page today and it brought back some terrific memories.

I thought it might be fun to take a look at the video and see how many of these country stars I could name. Not surprisingly, I named all except one, the guy playing bass. You never get a really good look at him, and the video isn’t very good quality, but once I found out who it was I thought, “yeah, that’s him.”

Now it’s time for you to play along… Watch the video below, but don’t scroll down too far! You can check your answers after the video further down the page. I’ll also let you know which one of them I have known for so long it’s a little scary.

This little superstar combo took place in March, 1990. Of course, Chet Atkins introduced himself, but the folks in the “World’s Most Famous Unknown Band” included: Glen Campbell, Jerry Reed, Steve Wariner, Roy Clark, Ray Stevens, Ricky Skaggs, Lee Greenwood, Barbara Mandrell, and Irlene Mandrell.

The guy on bass that was hard to see is Steve Gatlin, of the Gatlin Brothers. The performer that I’ve run into, been on stage with, and interviewed more times than I can remember is none other than Steve Wariner.

Thanks for posting that Steve. It probably made us both feel really old but it was fun to watch!
