Rain was a factor in a deadly accident reported Wednesday in Cass County in Northeast Texas.

The Department of Public Safety says the two-vehicle accident occurred yesterday in the 2PM hour on U.S. Highway 59 approximately 4.5 miles north of Linden. A vehicle driven by 52-year-old Bridget Primeaux of Linden was headed southbound when it hydroplaned on the wet roadway and crossed the center lane. It was struck by a northbound Peterbilt truck and trailer driven by Dennis Rosenbaum, 49, of Texarkana, Texas.

Primeaux's vehicle then caught fire following the accident. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Rosenbaum was taken to St. Michael Hospital in Atlanta with non-life threatening injuries.

Both drivers were wearing their safety belts, according to the trooper who investigated the accident.
