This Easter weekend promises action, drama and plenty of mystery. Dewayne Johnson gets a staring role in the toy-based action franchise G.I. Joe:Retaliation. If alien invasion is your thing the latest adaptation of a Stephenie ('Twilight') Meyer novel 'The Host' is in theaters and finally Tyler Perry (Madea) is behind the camera in a story of hidden desire 'Temptation.' So hop into the box office this weekend and have a Happy Easter!
For the second week in a row, 'Oz the Great and Powerful' lived up to its title and dominated the box office. One of the newcomers managed to fare surprisingly well in the face of Sam Raimi's blockbuster...but another simply got crushed.
Are you a Trekkie? I'm not really, but I am excited about the new Star Trek movie coming out in May!
This weekend could be the biggest at the box office as the much hyped 'Oz the Great and Powerful' comes to theaters nationwide. With spring break starting to get underway it seems only fitting that movie producer Sam Raimi ('Amazing Spider Man') would release this fantasy tale derived from the iconic classic 'The Wizard of Oz.' The upcoming 'Man of Steel' seems to get all the attention regarding studios' attempt to "reboot" franchises, but If 'Oz' succeeds at the box office, we may end up with a new version of 'The Wizard of Oz' at some point, even though the producers have said that's not their goal. By the way, Disney studios has already started prepping on a sequel that could be released as early as 2015. All I know is my wife has had this movie circled ever since Disney announced it would be making the movie. She is a huge 'Wizard of Oz' fan and can't wait to see it. So guess what? I'll see you at the movies!
Also opening this week is a dark tale of blackmail and revenge.
When it comes to tentpole studio releases, there's a pressure to get the next one made two or three years after the first, simply so the brand is still in people's heads. The best way to get a jump on that is to start prepping the sequel before the first film is released, and because (at least with these films) the script is often the cheapest part, it's no surprise that Disney has already commissioned someone to pen a sequel to 'Oz: The Great and Powerful.'
Big weekend at the movies, four new choices to pick from including a classic fairytale 'Jack and the Giant Slayer' a supernatural scary thriller 'The Last Exorcism Part 2 a comedy '21 and Over' and a submarine saga 'Phantom.' Think maybe Jack might be interesting to see if for nothing else the special effects.
Aw, the Oscars! Did you watch it? What was your favorite part? What did you think of Seth MacFarlane's job at hosting the show?
The 2013 Oscar winners were finally announced during the awards ceremony hosted by Seth MacFarlane on Sunday, February 24. After a lengthy awards season with Ben Affleck's 'Argo' as the clear frontrunner, picking up Best Picture and Best Director titles every chance it had, the flick ended up snagging the big award of the evening -- Best Picture!
Two new movies hit the theaters this weekend that guarantee chills and thrills. The first is a creepy thriller about a family terrorized by a mysterious force, Dark Skies. The other is Snitch, an action-packed crime drama about a father determined to save his son starring Dwayne Johnson. I actually wouldn't mind seeing both of these movies. How about you?
You have to admit, some of the best kids movies ever could seriously jack a kid up in the head. Here are some of the saddest kids movies ever...
There's a little bit of variety for everyone at the theaters this weekend with four new movies. If your still recovering from a Valentine hangover, there are two thrilling tales of love in the South (but both stories very different), John McClane (Bruce Willis) returns for another round of action in the 'Die Hard' series. And for the family, a new animated adventure about good guys and bad guys in space. Think I'm going for the action movie 'A Good Day To Die Hard.' See ya at the movies!
