Liberty-Eylau ISD leaders passed a Resolution on Equity at a recent board meeting. The resolution serves to further cement the dedication to creating a learning environment that is welcoming and effective for all students.

With Hurricane Laura on the way, Texarkana and surrounding areas are under a Tropical Storm Warning. To be on the safe side these school districts in our area have closed for Thursday, August 27. Please be aware that a few school districts on the list will still have virtual classes.

Due to the current weather warnings for our area and the potential threat of hazardous conditions, Southern Arkansas University will be operating under its Inclement Weather Policy Thursday and Friday, August 27 and 28, 2020.

Texarkana College will move to a virtual format for all courses and student services for Thursday, August 27, 2020, and Friday, August 28, 2020, due to the threat of severe weather in our area.

Time is running out and soon the deadline to apply for the seventh annual Arkansas Grown School Garden of the Year Contest will be here. The deadline is September 13. The Arkansas Grown School Garden Program was created to showcase Arkansas schools that have developed gardens to support innovative and hands-on learning.

The first day of school for TASD is August 26 but over the weekend, the school district was notified that one of their students tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

The start of the new school year is just around the corner but unfortunately, we are still living with the coronavirus epidemic. Yesterday it was announced that five staff members of the Pleasant Grove Independent School District have tested positive for COVID-19.
