One of the most unique pets in our area may have been saved thanks to you.

Turkey was named for his waddle that hangs on his neck. He is a senior Dachshund that was found as a stray in Texarkana and now awaits someone who wants to love him. Little dogs like this can live a long time.

Texarkana the Cat was born in August 2008, which means he just turned 8 years old for those of you without a calculator handy. It's quaint that someone would name his cat "Texarkana" except there's an issue at play here. Texarkana the Cat's owners live in Vermont and have never stepped foot in our fair city.

For a limited time the Texarkana Friends of the Shelter is paying the vetting fees for dogs and cats adopted from our local animal shelter so your out of pocket cost to adopt right now is only $40 for dogs and $20 for cats. This is a limited time sponsorship that will end when the funds run out. Megan's vetting has been sponsored so her adoption fee will only be $40. Megan is good with other dogs, too. She loves to sniff around and check out the perimeter. She is a mix, possibly, shepherd. She is approximately 40 pounds and has been at the shelter since December of 2015.

Our featured pet this week is a shepherd puppy named Dingo from the animal shelter in Texarkana. He is one smart pup, too. He already knows how to play fetch and even brings the ball to you. He would make a great family pet. He isn't too rough for young children either. I would estimate his age at 3 months. This boy is an adorable, smart and fun puppy. You better scoop him up quickly.

Angelica is our featured shelter pet this week. She is a little over 1 year old and is a mixed breed dog. It looks like she may have some Lab in her but her size is much smaller than the typical Lab. Angelica loves to play fetch and give dog kisses.
