The 7th Annual Fall "Gathering of Authors" Charity Event and Book Signing is today Oct. 28 through Saturday, Oct. 29 at the Texarkana Arkansas Convention Center located at 5200 Convention Plaza Drive. This annual fundraiser benefits St. Jude Children's  Research Center.

On Saturday, October 22, from 10AM until 1PM the Bi-State Narcotics Task Force, comprised of the Texarkana Ark. Police Department and the Miller County Sheriff's Office, in partnership with the Texarkana Ark. School District, will give the public another opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs for

Drive through, get your flu shot and have a nice day. The Arkansas Department of Health - Miller County Unit will be conducting the "Drive Through Flu Shots" at the Four States Fair Grounds next Friday, October 21 from 9AM to 3:30PM.

Texarkana has a vibrant art scene and the Texarkana Regional Arts & Humanities Council (TRAHC) Gallery Hop is a great way to see hometown talent. The event is Saturday, October 8, and runs from noon until 4PM at nine different locations all around our community.

The 4th annual  "Draw Down for a Hand Up" to benefit Randy Sams Outreach Shelter is tonight, September 29, at Hands On Texarkana 1915 Olive Street at 7PM. As of this writing only four tickets remain for this fall fundraiser.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Texarkana, Inc. will present a check for $9,545 to Texarkana College to help fund the Kids' College summer program.

Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, including the VA Outpatient Clinics in Monroe, Louisiana; Texarkana, Arkansas; and Longview, Texas will offer flu shots to enrolled Veterans during scheduled clinic appointments and in special walk-in flu shot clinics as outlined below. There is no charge for the flu shot and Veterans are reminded to bring their VA identification card.

The University of Arkansas at Hope-Texarkana welcomed 1,531 students this fall, a 9% increase over the previous school year.  This increase represents the second highest enrollment in the fifty year history of the college, second only to the record of 1,557 students set in fall 2010.

Overton Brooks VA Medical Center (OBVAMC) will host a Town Hall and outreach event on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 5-6PM at the Holiday Inn Arkansas Convention Center, Magnolia Room, 5200 Convention Plaza Drive, Texarkana, Ark., 71854.

Thursday, Sept. 8,  will mark the start of the 93nd campaign season kick-off for the United Way of Greater Texarkana. The event will be held at Christus St. Michael Health System in the dining room atrium at 5:30PM.
