Photos of Hurricane Sandy flooded social media sites throughout the day Monday, with Facebook, Instagram and Twitter users in the storm's path posting dramatic photos of waves, flooding and downed trees. (Some are fake, by the way.)
In the Northeast, people are swarming to beg, borrow, steal and even purchase last-minute emergency supplies to prepare for the worst of Hurricane Sandy. However, many stores are running out of those items, leaving people to return home empty-handed.
With the eye of 2012's Hurricane Sandy expected to make landfall in the next 24 hours, residents along the east coast are taking measures to stay safe during, and after, what is being described as the "perfect storm." Country music's reach extends into all 50 states, so it's no surprise that many of the top names took to Twitter to encourage those in Hurricane Sandy's path to be extra cautious. This is one of the stories in all of the Hurricane coverage that gave me a real sense of pride. Proud that the 3rd US Infantry Regiment “The Old Guard” will never forget the sacrifices and the respect owed, to not only the Tomb Of The Unknowns, but to all of the men and women that have fought and died for our country.
As the east coast braces for Hurricane Irene to make landfall, the International Space Station passed overhead and took this amazing footage. Complete with astronaut commentary!
After everything we've seen in the past decade, it's hard not to worry at least a little bit that a major natural disaster could strike where you live. Unless you live underground in a concrete bunker. Which might be smart at this point.
Checking on all of the websites I came across this video clip of CNN Meteorologist Rob Marciano explaining his theory on the increase in tornadoes and severe weather to Piers Morgan...saying this is the worst tornado season since 1953.
