Kids, do you have a dream of someday owning your own business? Maybe you already have an idea of what you would like to do? Good news! Central Mall is inviting kids age 6-15 years old to a new program called "Kids, Inc."The program is being hosted at select Jones Lang LaSalle-managed shopping centers throughout the U.S.

Winning Kids, Inc. participants will be given the chance to set up shop at Central Mall to learn about business, make money, and most of all, have fun. Participants may create something from scratch, offer a service or resell a product purchased from a wholesaler.  Businesses are expected to have minimal parental involvement.

To qualify for the in-center event, kids will submit their business plans via Central Mall’s Facebook page by June 20. Children 12 and under will need a parent or guardian to submit their entry.  The shopping center’s Facebook fans will vote for their favorite business ideas between June 21 and June 28. Based on the highest number of votes, ten to fifteen winners will be invited to a one-day “business showcase” where they can sell their products or services to customers and keep their earnings.

I think this a win-win situation for kids in our community, not only does this educate them, but it gives them something to do, have fun, and make money all at the same time.
