Chip and Jo are hanging up their sledgehammers and design books. According to E News, the Fixer Upper stars will be ending the show after season five. The announcement was originally made on their personal blog, but has since gone viral and is now trending on several social media sites.

It is with both sadness and expectation that we share the news that season 5 of Fixer Upper will be our last. While we are confident that this is the right choice for us, it has for sure not been an easy one to come to terms with

They continued with lamenting saying goodbye to the very thing that introduced them to their fans in the first place. I knew this was going to happen. Their kids are entering into pivotal ages in which their parents will want to be present for absolutely everything. And although it's sad to see this show go off the air, Chip and Jo will very much still be a part of our lives with other ventures in the home renovation world.

For me, this almost feels personal. I lived in Waco, Texas for seven years prior to the Gaines dynasty. I attended Baylor University, just like Chip and Jo, and started my radio career in that town. What's most staggering is to see how far this little heart-of-Texas town has come. In addition to the success of Baylor athletics across the board, Chip and Joanna, coupled with their show, have really put the spotlight on Waco. They've blown the dust off of a quaint town which was once tarnished by the David Koresh scandal (although it didn't even happen in Waco), and have polished it into a brilliant piece that could easily be put on display in one of their Fixer Uppers.
