Four nursing students at Texarkana College will be getting scholarships from a local foundation.

The Christus St. Michael Foundation will announce the establishment of four nursing scholarships at Texarkana College. The announcement will occur at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2015, in the Dr. William R. Patterson Health Sciences Center at Texarkana College.

The new Christus St. Michael Nursing Scholarship will be available beginning in the 2015 fall semester. The scholarship will provide $1,000 per semester to four nursing students who meet stringent academic standards and maintain a 3.0 GPA in the Texarkana College nursing program.

Chris Karam, CEO/President of Christus St. Michael Health System, will present the scholarship program, along with Susan Landreaux, Executive Director of the Christus St. Michael Foundation and Dean Barry, a Texarkana College alumnus and Christus St. Michael Foundation Chairman.

“Texarkana College leads the way in offering higher education credentials at an affordable price, and the new Christus St. Michael Scholarship Program is another means to make college more accessible for our high-achieving students,” said Courtney Shoalmire, Dean of Health Sciences at Texarkana College. “We are honored that CHRISTUS St. Michael, where many of our nursing students will find employment when they graduate from our program, is investing in our students’ futures.”

The public is invited and encouraged to attend the scholarship announcement ceremony. Once again that will be Monday, April 27th at 3:30 p.m. in the Dr. Williams R. Patterson Health Sciences Center at Texarkana College.
