Gallagher, the prop comic whose watermelon smashing antics made him one of the most popular acts of the ’80s, was hospitalized after suffering a heart attack Wednesday.

65-year-old Leo Anthony Gallagher was scheduled to perform a set at a club in Lewisville, Texas, but he felt ill just before going on stage. He is listed in stable condition at a Dallas-area hospital, where he’s expected to stay for at least the next few days.

It was only just back in 2011 when the comedian suffered a heart attack during a performance in Minnesota.

According to Gallagher’s promotion manager Christine Scherrer, her client is “slowly recovering” from his latest cardiac event, and his family is beside him. “His family is with him and Hat Tricks has been unbelievable with the help and support with everything.”

Gallagher’s appearances scheduled for next week in Texas, Oklahoma and Oregon have all been postponed.
