Community Healthcore, the Regional Behavioral Health and Intellectual Disability Authority, opened its Health and Wellbeing complex at 2435 College Drive on April 8, 2015.Inman White, Healthcore’s Executive Director, said, “Our new location on College Drive will provide greater ease of access for our clients and the community. Texarkana College owns the property we are leasing and College administrators worked with us to negotiate a lease agreement that benefits our budgetary needs and provides a tenant for a building that has been underutilized in recent months.”

The Center brings a large array of services, support and training opportunities in a centralized location to better serve the community. Services at this location will include Behavioral Health Outpatient, Veterans Outreach and Resources Services, Service to At Risk Youth, Substance Use Services Disorder, and Personal Growth/Development classes for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

James Henry Russell, Texarkana College President said, “We are glad to help provide a location for Community Healthcore that is affordable for their program and in turn allows for better utilization of our facility. Several of our existing programs of study including nursing, drug and alcohol abuse counseling, and psychology, may benefit by having nearby access to professionals who currently work in related fields. We see this as a positive both for our students and the community as a whole.”

The goal of Community Healthcore is to provide a service center which will evolve as a model of cooperation for governmental and other community entities. Community Healthcore serves over 7,000 Texarkana residents a year and in this year has opened a multi-million dollar Regional Crisis Response center in partnership with CHRISTUS St. Michael, Atlanta.
