Christmas is over and decorations start coming down, or should they? Actually, January 5th is when Christmas decorations should come down. It's a tradition lost here in America.

Did you know that The 12 Days of Christmas actually start on Christmas Day? Here in the states because of commercialism we think The 12 Days of Christmas starts on December 14. Oh, yes it is all about commercialism isn't it!

The Twelve Days of Christmas is probably the most misunderstood part of the church year among Christians who are not part of liturgical church traditions. Contrary to much popular belief, these are not the twelve days before Christmas, but in most of the Western Church are the twelve days from Christmas until the beginning of Epiphany.  (when the 3 wise men arrived with gifts to the new born Jesus Christ.)

I used to take decorations down on New Year's Day, but a few years ago I found out about how the tradition was lost. So, I now take my Christmas decorations down on January 5. I mean really, what's the rush? Let's enjoy the Christmas season as long as we can!
