Dolly Parton has been one of the leading lights for women in country music for decades, and she's celebrating women's voting rights in her new song, "A Woman's Right."

Parton is one of the contributors on 27: The Most Perfect Album, which was released on Tuesday (Sept. 18). The project consists of songs about the 27 amendments to the United States Constitution. According to a press release, Parton's song "is an explicit celebration of women’s rights as she sings about the 19th amendment (women’s suffrage)."

“They said a woman’s place / Was staying in her hut / Washin’, cookin’ cleanin' / Wipin’ babies butts / They said she’d never see the day / We’d equal up to them / But here we are, we’ve come so far / I guess we sure showed them,” Parton sings in "A Woman's Right."

The project is the brainchild of the More Perfect podcast from WNYC Studios, hosted by Jad Abymrad. Other contributing artists include They Might Be Giants, Devendra Banhart, Kash Doll, Torres, Kevin Morby and more. The album is being released in conjunction with the third season of the podcast, and new episodes of the More Perfect Podcast will serve as a series of audio liner notes to the compilation album. Golden Globe, Emmy, and Tony Award-winning actor Jeffrey Wright — whose credits include Westworld and The Hunger Games — narrated each of the 27 amendments to the Constitution for the podcast series.

"I was very happy to participate in Jad Abumrad's podcast’s album. Being lucky enough to be a successful woman in business, I wanted to exercise my right to write about the 19th Amendment to praise and uplift women," Parton says. "Of course, I did a fun take on my song ‘A Woman's Right,’ and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I, some good gals, and a few good guys did putting it together for you."
