The Bowie County Master Gardeners/Texas A&M-Texarkana will present a program on “Edible Landscapes” on Monday June 11, 2018 at Texas A&M University.

The program will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The class is free and open to the public. The class will take place in the Science and Technology Building, Room 306. No reservation is required to attend.

The Program will be presented by Texas Master Gardener Aarron Corbin--currently President of Bowie County Master Gardeners.

The edible landscape concept has explored its many options and variations for more than 40 years. Americans cover millions of acres of valuable agricultural land around their homes with lawn, marigold and azalea beds, wisteria, and an occasional privet or maple. Yet landscape designers know most edible plants are beautiful and that homeowners could grow a meaningful amount of food in their yards.

Aarron will be sharing how to have a beautiful yard that could include blueberries that are decorative year-round — or pear and plum trees that put on a spring show of flowers, have decorative fruits, and yellow fall foliage. These plants aren’t just pretty, they provide scrumptious fruit and can save you money.
