Eric Church's 36-year-old brother, Brandon E. Church, suffered multiple seizures prior to his death, his father says.

TMZ talked to Kenneth Church who said Brandon suffered one seizure at his home in Granite Falls, N.C., last week and was being transported to the hospital when he had a second seizure.

The country singer confirms that his brother died Friday (June 29), but shared no details in a posting to his fan club website on Monday. Brandon leaves behind a daughter named McKenzie.

A memorial scholarship has been set up in Brandon Church's memory. A note at the Deposit a Gift site reads:

"In lieu of flowers, please pay forward a gift that will keep on giving to others through furthering their education. The Brandon E. Church Memorial Scholarship Fund will be used to bless others and honor a benevolent life. Thank you for showing your love and support to the Church family."

Eric Church also has a sister named Kendra. He grew up in Granite Falls before going to college at Appalachian State University. There he and his brother played music together, maintaining a partnership well into the start of the "Springsteen" singer's professional career. Brandon Church is credited with several songwriting and production credits on early Eric Church albums.

Church's next concert is scheduled for Saturday (July 7) at Country Concert in Fort Loramie, Ohio. Brandon Church's official cause of death has not been revealed.
