ESPN Pulls The Plug On Hank Williams Jr. [VIDEO]
If you watched Monday Night Football last night, chances are you didn’t hear “All My Rowdy Friends” the MNF intro, that’s because ESPN decided to pull the song from last night’s game featuring the Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The reason the network pulled the plug was because the singer “made some controversial comments about President Barack Obama” on Fox News and Friends Monday morning. ESPN company officials said they were extremely disappointed with Hank’s comments. The song has been part of the weekly event on both ABC and ESPN since 1991.
Hank issued a statement on Monday that said he was “misunderstood”. “Some of us have strong opinions and are often misunderstood”. My analogy was extreme but it was to make a point. I was simply trying to explain how stupid it seemed to me, how ludicrous that pairing was.
No word from ESPN whether they plan to cancel the song for good on the Monday Night Football telecast.
