"A World For Children" is teaming up with the Bowie County Child Welfare Board to raise money for the Runnin' WJ Ranch. The Flapjack Fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday March 28 at Applebee's in Texarkana.

The "Flapjack Fundraiser" will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Applebee's in Texarkana with all you can eat pancakes for a small $5 donation. This is a joint effort between A World For Children and the Bowie County Child Welfare Board for the good folks at Runnin' WJ Ranch.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. A report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds and every day more than five children die from abuse. These groups are coming together to raise awareness of how severe the problem is.

A World for Children is an organization currently serving 850 kids in 350 different foster homes across the state of Texas. They do have a local representative and caseworker, and they will soon have an office in Texarkana. A World For Children will be hosting monthly meetings for families interested in foster care and they will also be giving information for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) and Runnin' WJ.

The meetings will be on the first Monday of every month at 6 p.m. through October 6 at 600 Broad Street in Maud, Texas. For more information call Gaye Beard at 469-865-4764.
