Many students play football in the Texarkana area. As a player or a parent have you ever wondered if the game is becoming too violent?

Recently, a New York high school football player, Damon Janes, was hit so hard in a game that “he was able to get on his feet but lost consciousness on the sidelines and died three days later,” according to Fox Sports.

This incident, and many like it, are bringing renewed attention to the “Heads up” tackling technique. You can view this technique as well as other safety related information here. In the end, each player needs to evaluate the sport for themselves, just like one of Damon’s team mates did who said, “Now I realize that there’s more than just playing the game.”
