More information came yesterday about Project Glass Explorer, the Google glasses we've been hearing about.  Google co-founder Sergey Brin showed off the new glasses to computer programmers and news media at the Google conference in San Francisco.

These glasses will let you check your texts, emails, weather and more through a little itty bitty screen just above your eye but still in your field of vision. Voice activation for the glasses is in the future as well.

Google developers are still working on the glasses but they are close enough to the finished product that Brin offered pre-orders of the prototype to the conference attendees for $1,500. They are not for sale to the public yet.

Personally, I'm a bit on the fence with these! Smartphones are distracting enough, can you imagine people wearing these while driving? Oh man! Now that is scary!

I found this video of Brin demonstrating Project Glass Explorer on the The Gavin Newsom Show.
