Grants Available for Emergency Food and Shelter Program

Grant funds are available in Miller and Bowie counties under Phase 33 of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP).

Miller County will have $17,938 available for grants and Bowie County $33,373. Non-profit social service agencies, and shelter services are invited to apply for these funds. Applications must be submitted by noon August 12. The forms may be requested at United Way of Greater Texarkana, 214 Spruce, Texarkana, Texas 75501 or by calling (903) 794-3105. A board of local representatives will review the applications.

This jurisdiction of Bowie County Texas and Miller County, Arkansas, Ark., has been selected to receive an award under Phase 33 of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program based upon the available statistics. Congress has appropriated $120,000,000 to supplement and expand emergency food and shelter programs. This jurisdiction's award is based upon your jurisdiction's total number of unemployed as compared to the total number of unemployed in all qualifying jurisdictions.
