The monthly recycling program  known as Green Texarkana is this Saturday, February 14.

The program is free and provides responsible disposal for paper, cardboard, plastic, metal cans and electronics. In 2014, residents recycled nearly 77 tons of waste with Green Texarkana. The City’s goal for this year is to top that amount.

Green Texarkana cannot accept glass, Styrofoam, tires, furniture or hazardous materials including CFLs (fluorescent lights). Residents wanting more information about the City’s CFL recycling program can call 870-779-4946.

Green Texarkana takes place from 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., Saturday at East Third and Hazel streets in Texarkana, Ark. Residents must wait to bring their items until volunteers arrive at 8 a.m., Saturday. Bringing items prior to this time and leaving them in the parking lot is considered littering.
