One more time this year and you could be there, Wednesday, July 4, 2018, the Declaration of Independence will be read from the balcony of the 1874 Courthouse in Historic Washington State Park, Arkansas. You can be there to witness it and sign it. How cool is that!

From the Press Release:

In the 19th century, it was tradition to read the Declaration of Independence from the courthouse balcony to the crowds gathered below and all joined in shouts of “Huzzah!” when the reading concluded. You can join the staff of Historic Washington State Park in recreating these historical events by gathering on the lawn of the 1874 Courthouse for the annual reading, shouting huzzah, and then adding your own “John Hancock” to a copy of the declaration of independence using a quill pen, plus keep a copy for yourself. Become part of American History! We especially encourage children to participate! This is a “Free Program”, times each day will be at 10am and 2pm. Full or Sampler tours are available at regular cost. Williams Tavern Restaurant will be open for lunch both days from 11:00am to 3:00pm. See you then!
