The internet was rocked yesterday by the first images from Wonder Woman 1984 (that’s the new official title of Wonder Woman 2 if you missed the news) which showed Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor decidedly alive despite his apparent death in the first film. (Uh, spoiler alert.) Plus, Pine still looked very much his youthful, handsome self and not like the 90-odd-year-old he would have to be if Trevor had survived Wonder Woman and lived into the 1980s. So what gives? How’d Steve survive? How is he still young? And does it have anything to do with the supernatural healing powers of Members Only jackets?

Probably not. But the video above from ScreenCrush’s Ryan Arey breaks down every other viable theory about Steve’s mysterious resurrection and rejuvenation. Was he resurrected by one of Diana’s enemies? Was time travel involved somehow? Could Chris Pine be playing his identical twin grandson? (Don’t laugh; that’s actually what happened on the Wonder Woman TV show at one point.) Ryan goes through them all and tries to figure out what’s going on here.
