It's hard to believe with all the success, but Tim McGraw had a time of doubt in himself.

My dad has always been the one in my life telling me to turn doubt into something useful and take the nervous energy you have and turn it into adrenaline. From the sound of it, it would appear that my dad and Tim McGraw have a lot in common.

He never let doubt win, even when a producer he told him he wasn't good enough.

According to CMT, when Tim was first starting out, he had an off night in the studio. He struggled to get the words and the singing right. Afterward, he and the producer went to dinner.

And he dropped a bomb.

"You know, you're a nice guy. But I don't think this is for you. Unless you want to find another part of this business you want to work in, you maybe should not be involved in being a singer," Tim remembers the man telling him.

Say what??

Obviously that man is now eating his words, but let's all be thankful that this didn't end Tim's career completely.

Tim said, "At first, I believed him. I was questioning myself and questioning whether I should do this anymore. But I didn't want to do anything else. I couldn't imagine what else I would do."

He stopped working with that producer, continued the grind and found someone who did believe in him. From that experience, he gained the confidence he has today. It was from pushing himself through.

"There's always that doubt that drives you forward. I wasn't going to let the doubt overcome the belief that I had, and what I could do."
