Once again a whole weekend will be dedicated to scouting in the Ark-La-Tex as the Boys Scouts of America, Caddo Area Council and Girl Scouts Diamonds of Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma will be hosting the 2017 Scout-O-Rama regional Scout Show April 21 - 23 at Spring Lake Park in Texarkana, Texas.

Also coming back this year at Scout-O-Rama, they will be hosting the International Chili Society’s “Home Style” Chili Cook-off on Saturday, April 22 right after the opening ceremonies. Anyone interested in organizing a team and competing with their best chili recipe, log on to 4statesSOR.com to download the registration form and check out the rules.  The registration fee is $25.00 for ICS members and $45.00 for non-members.  Participants are required to cook 4-5 gallons of Chili at the event to serve to the public.  Participation in this event supports scouting right here in our community.

Be on the lookout for area Scouts selling chili cook-off tickets for just $5.00 each, when they sell 10 tickets they earn a Scout-O-Rama t-shirt and other memorabilia.  Plus a portion of the funds go to support their own troop as well as our area scouting programs.  Chili tickets will also be sold at the Scout Office at #24 Lynwood drive in Texarkana, Texas and at the show!  Cooks, your chili should be ready for serving by 12:30 on Saturday, April 22 after the Scout-O-Rama public opening ceremony.

If you like to cook chili and want to compete in a ICS sanctioned Chili Cook-off here is your opportunity. Trophies and cash will be awarded for 1st – 2nd and 3rd place, plus other trophies for People’s Choice, and Best of Show winners.  All cooking will receive a participation award, something they would be proud to display as recognition for supporting scouting.  First place winner will be eligible to compete in the larger regional ICS Chili Cook-offs. Cash awards for this event are $200.00 for 1st place, $75.00 for 2nd place and $50.00 for 3rd place.
