This is the time of year for fairs all over the country - but nothing is better than the State Fair of Texas in Dallas. This year the theme of the 2012 State Fair of Texas is "Big & Bright."This year the fair runs Sept. 28 through Oct. 21 and is located in Fair Park, just two miles east of downtown Dallas. When I was a kid I remember going to the State Fair on several occasions and the most vivid memory I have today, is of the huge cowboy 'BIG TEX" who greeted everyone at the entrance of the Fair with a big 'Howdy I'm Big Tex.' Well after all these years Big Tex has become the staple of one of the Biggest Fairs in the Southwest.

The State Fair of Texas claims the title of Fried Food Capital of Texas for 24 days each year. Don't miss the chance to experience food and fun at the Fair.

Enjoy the State Fair Auto Show - see 2013 models- filling two exhibit halls and the Truck Zone outside. Also, check out Illumination Sensation a spectacular light show sponsored by Mattress with high tech visual effects, fire, and pyrotechnics. Presented each evening along the 700-ft Esplanade reflecting pool.

Free concerts on the Chevrolet Main Stage including Uncle Kracker, Kellie Pickler, Kevin Fowler, The Texas Tornadoes and more.
