J.W.’s News Update: Friday February 10, 2012

A Bowie County Grand Jury has indicted a 17 year old Redwater Texas girl in connection with the murder of a Texarkana Mom and her two children in their home last May.  Rachel Nicole Pittman is jailed on $ 3 million dollars bond. In the deaths of 34 year old Amanda Doss, and her two kids 11 year old Guinevere Doss and 8 year old Texas Johnson. Their bodies were pulled from the charred remains of their home after authorities say the home was set on fire after the family was murdered. A gag order in the case prevents prosecutors or attorneys from commenting on the case.

A juvenile arrested for assaulting the owner of a local skating rink in December has now been certified as an adult in the case. 16 year old Lamont Mitchell of Texarkana Texas booked into the Bi-State Justice Jail and bond set at $100,000. The elderly owner of the rink was seriously injured and is still recovering from his wounds after trying to escort Mitchell out of the business for causing a disturbance.

Both lanes of the FM 992 Overpass near New Boston Texas has been re-opened to traffic. The bridge was closed earlier this week after an 18 wheeler with an oversized load struck the bridge and caused damage. Another I-30 Bridge struck by the same truck remains closed. The County Road 2003 Red Bayou Road  bridge sustained heavy damage and will remain closed until repairs that make it safe are done. No injuries occurred in the accident.

The C-SPAN 2012 Presidential Bus Tour is coming to Texarkana today. The bus will be at Texas A&M University Texarkana campus from 10:00 am till noon and at Arkansas High School from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The public is invited to tour the bus and check It out while it is at the A&M Campus this morning.
