Texarkana Arkansas Police have arrested a Lewisville, Arkansas woman in connection with fraud at local financial institutions. Authorities began an investigation in January concerning 40 year old Melissa Goza . The suspect allegedly entered several establishments and made fraudulent withdrawals of cash.

Texarkana Texas City Councilmember Bob Bruggeman announced today he is running for Mayor in the May election. Current Mayor Steve Mayo is not seeking re-election. Bruggeman wants to continue the growth and progress in the city and wants to make sure the city selects a good city manager to replace Dr. Larry Sullivan who's contract ends later this year. Bruggeman says the next city manager, besides being versed in city government and finances needs to be a people person and a good listener.

Applications for unemployment benefits fell in January and the unemployment rate fell from 8.5% in December to 8.3% in January. The Labor Department says the nations employers added 230,000 jobs in the first month of 2012. That is a hopeful sign that the unemployment rate will continue to drop through the rest of this year.
