Good Monday, Here are some stories making headlines today:


The heat goes one, in fact its getting worse. The National Weather Service has posted an excessive heat warning in effect for the area. Temperatures over the next few days expected to be around 105 to 107 degrees with the heat index as high as 115 degrees.

This is dangerous heat and you are urged to use extremen caution in any outdoor activities especially during the peak heat times of the afternoon into early evening hours.  Be sure and drink plenty of water and other drinks that will properly hydrate you.


The Texarkana Texas City Council meets tonight at 6pm at city hall during a special called meeting. The agenda includes an executive closed session. The council will discuss or deliberate the evaluation of councilmembers and discuss or deliberate duties of the city manager.


In sports:

The Houston Astros have once again traded away some talent. As the club traded outfielder Michael Bourn to the Atlanta Braves in a five player trade. The Astros receive outfielder Jordan Schafer and three minor league pitchers. Bourn is a two time gold glove winner who was hitting  .303 for the  Astros this year and leads the major leagues with 39 stolen bases .
