The Texarkana Airport Authority is receiving nearly a half million dollar grant. The funds from the U.S. Department of Transportation will pay for  an environemental assessment that is required before construction can begin on a new airport terminal project.

The Vice Mayor of Hope, in Hempstead County in Southwest Arkansas is facing a misdemeanor theft charge after authorities say he took cash from a women at a restaurant. David Johnson is set to appear in court in early October. He has been vice mayor since 1193.

A south Arkansas man has entered a not-guilty plea to a capital murder charge after authorities say he killed a woman at the Waldo post office in July. Prosecutors have not yet said whether they plan to seek the death penalty in the case against 30 year old Williams Blackmon.

Texarkana, Texas Police say a man severely injured in a alleged hit and run crash has now died. Authorities say Steven Davis the driver of a moped involved in the crash passed away after being airlifted to a hospital in Hot Spings, Arkansas. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the wreck was arrested at a home in Wake Village, Texas and has been charged with failure to stop and render aid which is a felony in the state of Texas.
