Good Thursday,  Here are some stories making headlines today:


Texarkana Texas Police have been busy in the past 24 hours. Officers were first called to the 700 Block of Martine Street around 6:15 yesterday evening in reference to an assault and robbery.

The 56 year old victim was assaulted outside a vacant duplext by two male suspects, who then stole his car. Police say the vehicle taken was a 2008, 4 door white Nissan Sentra with Texas license plate CP2J805. If you  have any information on this crime you are asked to call police detectives at (903) 798-3170 or Texarkana Area Crimestoppers at (903) 793-stop.

Later authorities were called around 1:30 am to the 3300 block of Austin Street in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival they found the victim, 31 year old Brian Cornelius suffering from a single shotgun wound to his lower abdomen. Cornelius was taken to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. His body has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy and the investigation into this crime is in its early stages.


The Texarkana Arkansas Four States Chapter of Delta Waterfowl is holding its annual meeting at the Fine Arts Building on the Four States Fairgrounds. The event tonight kicks off with a 5:30 social followed by the 6:30 dinner. Tickets are available at the Four States Fair Box Office, and at Best Gun, Langdon Polaris, and Rush Truck Center. Some of the proceeds from tonights event will go to sponsor a Youth Hunt and Youth Scholarships.


In Sports:

The Texas Rangers will start the playoffs Friday afternoon at home in Arlington against the Wild Card Champion Tampa Bay Rays. The Rangers finished the regular season with the 2nd best overall record in the American League behind only the New York Yankees.  The Yankees will face the Detroit Tigers in the first round of the playoffs.
