Texas side police say one man is hospitalized, another in jail after an apparent hit and run crash. Authorities were called to the intersection of New Boston Road and Westlawn Drive around 7:20 pm yesterday evening.

Officers located a moped at the scene, while another vehicle has apparently fled the area. After obtaining information, the driver of the second vehicle was found at a residence in Wake Village, Texas. The driver of the moped, 36 year old Steven Davis was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. The other driver was arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aird which is a felony in the state of Texas.

A record 249 Texas counties currently have outdoor burn bans. The Texas Forest Service says only five counties in South & Southeast Texas are without burn bans. Prior to this year's drought the record was set back in 2006 when 221 counties imposed the outdoor burn bans that year.

Meanwhile wildefires are a problem currently in Arkansas. Governor Mike Beebe is releasing $100,000 from the disaster fund to aid the state response to the fires. The money will be used for the Arkansas National Guard response around the state. The guard has been the primary source of air support for firefighting efforts.
