Good Tuesday, Here are some stories making headlines today:
Unemployment assistance is available for workers in 23 Texas Counties hit by wildfires. The Texas Workforce Commission has announced am expanded Presidential disaster declaration.
The United States Supreme Court will not hear an appeal from followers of evangelist Tony Alamo who had their chidlrent aken away when the would not agree not to expose them to the controversial ministry.
The high court today refused to hear the appeal from the followers who sued the Arkansas Department of Human Services after their children were taken away back in 2008. Social workers feared the children might someday be abused, and told the parents to break their financial dependence on the Alamo ministry.
The Arkansas Supreme Court ruled that taking the children was not a barrier to the parent’s constitutional rights to practice religion.
A 14 year old boy died this past weekend after an accidental shooting in Southwest Arkansas. The mother of Kerk Caldwell Jr. says she wants gun owners to remember to lock and safely store their firearms.
The Fox 33 TV Station in Shreveport, Louisiana is conducting a poll survey to determine which NFL Football game they should televise on Sunday. They are either going to carry the Dallas Cowboys vs New England game or the New Orleans vs Tampa Bay game.
