I'm a 53-year-old, 12-year-old kid with a new toy, and I can't wait to get it in the air and see how fast I can lose it!

In reality, I'm taking this kinda slow so hopefully I won't lose it, on the first day anyway. And, so I can also video the whole thing for you to follow along and see how things work out. Maybe if I take my time and do things by the book, I might actually look like I know what I'm doing before this thing flies away with a sudden gust of wind someday.

I've been looking at quads for a while, wanting to order one to play with and such, but these things get real expensive, real quick. You can easily shell out $500 - $1,000 or more in a very short time.

Not me.

I paid just under $60 on Amazon with free shipping. This Syma X5C Quadcopter has an HD video camera attached to the bottom. From what I gather, the video it takes is a little rough, but please refer back to the price. The flight time is supposed to be around seven to nine minutes per charge and it takes about an hour and a half to charge the battery each time from what I have read so far. You can order extra batteries for these things, I just haven't yet because I wanted to make sure it was worth the effort and the extra money.

Over the next few days, I will get it assembled, charged up and buy batteries for the remote and then get this thing in the air. I'll take video as we go and hopefully all will be right with the world.

Wish me luck!
