I was asked by our digital editor to do a blog about what I am thankful for during this Thanksgiving season. I'ts very easy for me to talk about what I treasure in this life.It can be summed up in two words, simply put, Faith & Family.

I am thankful for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Bible says in John 3:16 "That God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Amen.

The old hymn "Amazing Grace" says it all. " Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that save a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found. Was blind but now I see."

Knowing that God loves me and sent his Son to cover my sins is paramount to my joy. Know that thanks to his love and mercy I am saved makes life worth living.

Secondly, I am so thankful for my wonderful family. My wife and I have been blessed with two wonderful children who I love so dearly. They are indeed a precious gift from God.

David and Melissa are so different, but I love their unique personalities. I treasure all the parts of being a parent to my children. I love the play time I am able to spend with them each afternoon, the meals we sit down and eat together, and the bedtime stories and talks we have shared.

I have built tremendous memories with them by coaching them in sports, which is a passion of mine. I have shared a love of reading with the them. From the Bible, to Hank Zipzer, the Hardy Boys, and Junie B. Jones, we love our reading time.

I hope I stay on this Earth long enough to see them become what they are meant to be. To see them graduate, marry, and of course provide grandchildren is something I am eagerly anticipating.

When it's my time to leave this world I hope my children will look back and say that Dad cared, loved, shared, was always there for us and put us first in his life. If they reflect and say that, then I have done my most important job in this life.

Jackie Kennedy once said, "if you bungle raising your children, I don't think  whatever else you do well matters very much."  I could not agree more with that statement.

I hope everyone has a joyous Thanksgiving and Christmas season and reflect on things to be thankful about.
