Are you a Johnny Cash fan? If so,Wednesday, September 2, 2015 will a very special day in Texarkana. That's when the Texarkana Chamber of Commerce will commemorate the 60th Anniversary of a historic Johnny Cash concert that was held at the downtown Arkansas Municipal Auditorium-City Hall.Everyone is invited to come out and witness the placing of a plaque honoring the "Greatest Concert in Texarkana History". All Johnny Cash fans are encouraged to bring their acoustic guitars. Anyone with memorabilia from past AMA shows, bring that as well. The ceremony will begin at 5:30PM at the Walk of Fame Park (outside the Arkansas Municipal Auditorium).

There were several artists back in the day that were just beginning their musical careers or were at the height of their career when they played in the historic auditorium. I was a very small child when my mom and dad took me to see Elvis Presley there. All I can remember is some guy on stage swiveling his hips and singing on stage. Little did I know, at that time, that he would become a legend and an American icon for generations to come.

But getting back to Johnny Cash, it's always nice to see an Arkansas boy do well. Born in the small rural town of Kingsland, Ark. February 26, 1932 Cash went on to become a legend and an American icon as well. This singer/songwriter and later actor pretty much did all you could do in the music business and paved the way for so many new musicians getting into the business then and now. Even though Johnny Cash's music was labeled country his style and persona allowed him to cross all genres of music including rock n' roll. In fact, he is not only in the Country Music of Fame, but the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well as the Gospel Hall of Fame.

His distinctive sound eventually led him to be nicknamed "The Man in Black." He always started his concerts by saying, "Hi, I'm Johnny Cash." One of his revered concerts was when he went to Folsom Prison to perform a concert for the inmates, which led to the mega hit "Folsom Prison Blues" along with many more hits throughout his career.

Here's Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings performing "Folsom Prison Blues" at Farm Aid in 1985.

Johnny Cash passed away Sept. 12, 2003 but will always be remembered as "The Man in Black."

Don't miss this very special commemoration on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015 at the Walk of Fame Park outside the Arkansas Municipal Auditorium.
