Kacey Musgraves brings a little much-needed sunshine to the Season 5 finale of CMT's Nashville, as previewed in a newly released trailer for the episode.

The finale episode of Nashville's fifth season centers around a power struggle for control of Highway 65 Records, with billionaire Zach Wells and social media consultant Alyssa squaring off against Deacon Claybourne, who reluctantly took the reigns of the label after the death of his wife Rayna Jaymes earlier in the season.

Despite the grim situation, it's show business, and the show must go on for the label as Maddie and Daphne, played by the absurdly talented sibling duo of Lennon and Maisy Stella, hit the studio for an informal jam. Musgraves drops in on that scene as herself, greeting Deacon like old friends and then joining the girls for a joyful performance of a song called "Clockwork." Rolling Stone Country debuted the trailer above. Lennon and Maisy's mother, Marylynne Stella, co-wrote "Clockwork" with Trent Dabbs.

Nashville Stars Who Could Become Country Stars

Musgraves admits she only recently became a fan of the show. She posted a tweet in April, saying, "Here I am 5 yrs 'late to the party' [pun intended] and I'll admit I'm now OBSESSED with the show Nashville. It's a sick addiction now."

Series creator Callie Khouri replied via Twitter within hours, writing, "Then come be on the show. We'd LOVE to have you!"

Nashville showrunner Marshall Herskovitz tells Entertainment Weekly that Nashville is already looking for ways for Musgraves to reprise her role.

She might not have been a regular viewer until Season 5, but Musgraves is not entirely a stranger to Nashville. One of the earliest episodes in the show's first season featured "Undermine," a song she co-wrote with Dabbs prior to the release of her Grammy-winning major label debut album, 2013's Same Trailer, Different Park.

Nashille's Season 5 finale airs Thursday night (Aug. 10) at 9PM ET on CMT.
